Parenting in the Bay Area

It has been (not so quietly) whispered that San Francisco is not a child friendly city. Statistically San Francisco has the lowest percentage of kids (under 18) than any other major US city. There is a river of young families that steadily flows over the Golden Gate and into the welcoming arms of Marin County.
With its great schools, child friendly restaurants, vast open space and easy parking, Marin is an ideal place to raise kids.
On any given weekend you will find a pancake breakfast served to you by our local heros in uniform or a jumpy house graciously inflated in the middle of a park or a mound of snow piled in the middle of a street for kids to use for sledding. There are drop-off art classes, foam pit gyms, friendly Highway Patrol people to check car seat instillations, expert ear piercing ladies, pop-up gingerbread house making shops, babysitting in every gym, toy boxes in most retail shops and don’t forget that Phil Lesh does a free outdoor afternoon of stories and songs on Sundays at Terrapin Crossroads. See you in carpool!
